School objectives/ mission statement: Safe, fun, successful
To make our school a safe and exciting place where children want to be, so that they become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
To provide the best possible teaching to meet the needs of the agenda for
Every Child Matters.
Berkeley Infant School is situated 2 miles from the town centre in a pleasant, green environment. Motorway access is close by.
The original Berkeley Estate was built approximately 40 years ago. However, new housing estates are being built in the vicinity, attracting first time buyers with young families. The Local Authority, support agencies and parents of SEN pupils, see the school to be offering a very good education to children with special needs.
The school consists of 10 classrooms, children start in the Foundation Unit 1(Nursery) in the academic year in which they will be four years old. Moving on to Foundation 2 (Reception), Year 1 and Year 2. A Breakfast Club is available from 8am to 9am, school days, there is also the opportunity for the children to be involved in extended school activities.
A warm and welcoming atmosphere is extended to all visitors to school. The hardworking, enthusiastic and conscientious staff and governors, work as a team, supporting each other and ensuring the children in our school are given the best education possible.
In our experience, the best learning takes place as a result of a good partnership between home and school and we encourage parents to play an active role in their child's learning. When we welcome a child to our school, we also welcome their parents or guardians as full partners in their education.
Prospective parents are very welcome to visit and take a look around - just give us a call, we look forward to meeting you.
